Pressure Equipment CE Certificate
2014/68/EU (PED) Pressure Equipment Directive covers a wide range of products with a maximum pressure of 0.5 bar and above . 2014/68/EU (PED) Regulation It is aimed to design, manufacture and market Pressure Equipment at high safety level. The CE marking on products designed and manufactured in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Regulation indicates that these products have a high level of safety. The CE Mark allows the free movement of pressure equipment on the European market. Conformity assessment process of Category II, III and IV products should be carried out with notified bodies.
2014/68/EU (PED) Pressure Equipment Directive In the CE Certification Process, the following conditions are generally expected to be met;
-
Safe Products
-
Meeting the mandatory safety requirements of the 2014/68/EU (PED) Pressure Equipment regulation during the design, manufacturing and testing phases,
-
Correct application of conformity assessment processes
-
The products bear the CE mark
-
Providing adequate information and documentation
The standards generally used in the Pressure Equipment CE certification process are as follows.
EN 13445-1 - Pressure vessels - Non-flammable - Part 1: General
EN 12953-1 - Cylindrical boilers - Part 1: General
EN 10028-1 - Steel flat products - For pressure purposes - part 1: General specifications
EN 10217-1 - Steel pipes-Welded-For pressure purposes-Technical delivery conditions-Part 1: Non-alloy steel pipes with specified room temperature properties
Manufacturer's Duties for Pressure Equipment CE Certificate
Manufacturers must follow these 6 steps in order to have the Pressure Equipment CE Certificate:
1. To define applicable directives and harmonized standards.
2. Identifying requirements
3. Determine whether an independent conformity assessment (by a notified body) is required
4. Testing the product and managing the conformity assessment process
5. Preparation of necessary documents
6. Attaching the CE marking
Required Documentation Under the 2014/68/EU Pressure Equipment (PED) Regulation
The manufacturer to obtain the Pressure Equipment CE Certificate within the scope of 2014/68/EU Regulation must prepare the following documents. The technical documentation should enable the assessment of its compliance with the requirements of the regulation covering the device. Documents should generally contain the following information:
• General description of the product,
• is a description of components, subassemblies, circuits, etc. conceptual design and manufacturing drawings and diagrams,
• Information necessary to understand drawings and diagrams and to operate pressure equipment,
• A list of partially or fully implemented harmonized standards published in the Official Gazette and a description of the solutions adopted to meet basic safety requirements where harmonized standards are not applied,
• results of design calculations and necessary examinations etc.
• test reports.
